About Us

MEET THE AUTHOR BEHIND THIS ENCHANTING TALE

Hwa Wu Ortiz is an American expat currently residing in Beijing with her three children Marcello, Penelope and Maurizio. Two years ago Hwa started a literature club called Little Bookworms to help her eldest son with Dyslexia and other kids foster a love of reading. During this difficult quarantine period with daily online schooling, Hwa and her students from the Little Bookworms created the story “Princess Fish” to kindle their shared passion for reading. The students look forward to reading the new scene updates to this on-going fairy tale and learning at the same time.

However, Princess Fish is not just a cool story to be read – it is also an interactive learning tool geared towards helping young readers improve their vocabulary, refine their grammar and polish their comprehension abilities. What started out as a little read-along exercise has since become a blossoming story that has captivated the hearts of her students and keeps children of all ages turning the pages.

Princess Fish illustrates how while every student is trapped indoors during quarantine, their imagination and love of reading remains boundless!

MEET THE LITTLE BOOKWORM CLASS

These are the students from our Little Bookworm class that have been reading  Princess Fish every day for the past two months. Princess Fish is an opportunity for us to share our passion with friends. In class while we read, we let our imaginations soar, creating new characters, interesting settings and unexpected plot twists.
